I hope this is an easy question to answer.

In OG, I need notifications and messaging to make OG subscriptions work. If I just use the Subscriptions module, can I get the same results? Will someone get posts from a group when they join a group or will they need to subscribe to each post in the group?

I'm not sure. There's the Subscriptions OG module for D5, but it hasn't been ported to D6.

Subscriptions doesn't currently offer integration with OG in the way Notifications&Messaging does, so the answer is probably no.

I stumbled on the answer but didn't have time until now to post. I enabled subscriptions and created a group. I went into the group and the subscription link was there. I haven't tried it out to see what it will send but looks promising so far.

Will let you know what happens.

the link that appeared to the admin doesnt appear to the authenticated user. I dont know why, i set it to be associated with the group content type. I checked permissions and all is well.

anyway, just wanted to let you know.
