Description

I wonder if it's possible to use the jw player without this module? Not that the module is bad or anything, it's good for media you want host yourself, but when it comes to externally hosted media, it's a little restricted as the 'file=' variable doesn't work, and you have to create specific templates/code to support each 3rd party provider like youtube, myspace, etc.

Is it possible to just use jw player without this module or does it require this to be workable on drupal? If it does require the module, will the file variable every be made available for unhindered use of externally hosted flv files?

Thanks for reading.

Oh just thought I'd mention, I'm aware of the embeded media module, it's just that at times I want to use an unbranded player for something more seamless with the site. I also sometimes want to use media/providers embedded media field doesn't support.

I've implemented the JW player in the theme layer before. You can also potentially embed the player just into the body field of a node. Not sure if this answers your question. I'm also not sure that the FlashVideo issue queue is the right place to discuss alternatives to the FlashVideo module. Maybe the forums would be more appropriate?

Well, there was also a bit of interest in whether or not the module would ever free up the file variable as opposed to just going without it. I also thought that if anyone would know it's the person who created a module specifically for it because maybe there was no other alternative than that. The forum is probably better for this I suppose. I guess I'll ask for some help about implementing in the theme or embedding right into the node on the forum. Sorry for this. x_x
