Product node page white screen of death [#545298]

Here's what I did and the error I got:

1. created node-product.tpl.php
2. cleared all caches
3. realized it was NOT working
4. created node.tpl.php
5. realized it WAS working
6. created product-node.tpl.php
7. it continued to work
8. made a really awesome node-product.tpl.php
9. deleted node.tpl.php
10. WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH on product node pages.
11. Cleared caches
12. Deleted node-product.tpl.php
13. Cleared caches
14. Made new node-product.tpl.php
15. Cleared caches
16. Installed contemplate
17. Verified template override
18. Cleared caches
19. STILL WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH just for product node pages
20. Disabled ubercart
21. WAS able to see blank node page
22. Enabled ubercart
23. WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH just on product pages
24. Disabled ubercart
25. Uninstalled ubercart
26. Cleared caches
27. Installed ubercart
28. Ran update.php
29. WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH just on product pages

I think I remember reading that you have to have a node.tpl.php if you are going to have a more specific template of that type, like node-product.tpl.php. You can just copy the one out of the node module.
