Noob here.

I am lost on how to do this, or if it is even possible.

I want to have seperate pages, and on those pages only content in a particular category will show up, and if they have the permission to post that type of content.

Everything I have seen so far, makes All content appear on the home page. I cannot have sub section areas.

Am I missing something?

It sounds like you may have "Promoted to first page" checked off on each page - which will make them all display on the home page.

you need to visit and set content workflow options at

/admin/node/configure/types/blog (for blog)

/admin/node/configure/types/book (for book) etc

in particular Default options: promoted to front page = no tick

I just found out this.

/taxonomy/term/1

When I type that in the url it shows all posts that have that term in the category set.

Can I do:

Allow or deny them the privilege of posting into a particular category?

What I have seen about the access control only allows me to control a module or in some cases parts of a module. Or to completely deny a user name or email address.

Also can I have the content creation set up so that it only sets one category (that is does not allow them to change the category)?

well I wish I knew how to restrict that as well. (any ides?)

but what I have done is simply edit new posts to be in the categories which I wish then to be in after users submit them.

I find most do not even choose a category anyway while a small percentage put them in every category available
