The datepicker README.txt (and warning text displayed in Drupal's /admin/build/modules) incorrectly states that date.js can be downloaded from http://jqueryjs.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/plugins/methods/date.js ... that url no longer exists... the correct one is http://datejs.googlecode.com/files/date.js

Event for Drupal 8 is unrelated to older versions. If an issue similar to this one exists, please open a new issue with the 8.x branch.
