Issue Summary
Are you still planning on doing more with this module.
I plan to use it on one of my not-for-profit sites, where a church sends letters to shut-ins and people that cannot access emails.
A few features to make it more generic should make it much more popular.
If it did not specify recipient, such as Editor, (but a specified name user selects,i.e, friend, loved one, congressman, senator)
If it saved to a file and print. I realize you can select file when you print. I am thinking of how non-tech users might not pick up on that feature.
Also, when you print out ... it gives page numbers in left lower corner, link in upper right corner, date and time in lower right corner. ( very impersonal)
Users should be able to select address line to be ahead of salutation or not include address (as in business letter).
Salutation should be configurable by user possible even to select firstname of recipient for more personal salutation.
This is pretty important, because if letter writer has to hand write salutation on personal type letter it has a MASS mailing look.
Being able to specific fonts and size would help. I realize we can change formatting options, but I would not want to apply formatting options throughout site.
This is a very good module idea, because it will encourage snailmail letter writing. I can see the use of it in business and other types of sites as well.
Letters carried by postal service, even if the letters are type written are much more personal when delivered by mail carrier in hand-written envelope.
I hope you will continue with the module to develop it further. IMO, I think this module has a lot of value with just a few changes.
Thank you
Thanks for your valuable contribution.

This module is under active development (next major project is a Drupal 7 port), but I haven;t had much to do with it lately since it meets most of our needs as is now. These are all good ideas and I'll try to work them into future updates. I think the next significant update besides the port will be to convert it into a node based module, so you could have multiple simultaneous letter writing campaigns - that's a very logical place to add the salutation feature. I'm hoping to set that up some time in a the next month or two.

Are you still working on this?
I am working on a site where I could really use a variation of this module, which I mentioned previously. I have rethought some of the things I could use, which might make it a much easier thing to do.
Members select names from a list on the website and send personal letters to those persons they select. The letters are fine when run on a printer, because the envelopes will be hand written for personal touch. The letters are going to people who are sick, shut-ins, in nursing homes, etc. Computers are not accessible to the recipients, and many have visual problems as well. That is why it is important to be able to use larger fonts in the letter body. I realize the letters are not very personal when they are created with a word processor, but the recipients don't mind. They really appreciate being able to read the letters themselves, and don't need someone to read to them.
1) Letter writers go to the site and access the module
2) they scroll through and select people to mail
3) they print out a list of the selected persons addresses on a standard 81/2x11 sheet.
4) the writer then creates a letter and ideally each letter would have a custom salutation at the top of the letter to the recipient.
5) The writer would then work manually through the list of addresses on the 81/2x11 sheet and hand write the envelopes.
If item 4) above is not that easy to implement. Just printing the letters would probably be enough, even without each being associated with a recipient. The writer could hand write a salutation at the top of each letter and hand write the address on the envelope.
The purpose is for users of the site to create letters easily and facilitate letter writing. It's not a big deal I realize, but it means so much to people that don't have alot of outside contact with others.
This module could probably be manuevered abit to create letters to congressmen, local officials, and others as well. It would certainly facilitate snailmail letter writing, which is a best way to communicate in alot of instances. There is just something more important about a snailmail letter, even if it "kinda" automated.
