Hi,
I'm on Drupal 6.13 and emfield 6.x-1.3.
I created CCK fields and can show custom URL media when their types are natively ok to my browser's players (quicktime for .mov, Flip4mac for .wmv).
But I can't have JW FLV player take all media in charge, for more consistency, as it seems to be offered in emfield's configuration.
Here's what I did:
I downloaded the player and pasted in sites/all/plugins, as advised in emfield configuration.
In emfield general settings, I entered:
JW FLV Media Player: sites/all/plugins/mediaplayer/player.swf
Use SWF object: yes
SWFObject location: sites/all/plugins/mediaplayer/swfobject.js
I saved that, ran cron, flushed all cached info, yet when I check my video entries, though media is still shown with my "native" player (quicktime,
flip4mac, etc.).
Problem appears both in Safari and Firefox, with both video and audio files.
Note that JW FLV player works fine when I embed code directly in any node....
Thanks for your help!

timezero commentedI am having the same problem too. JW FLV works fine for Youtube links but not for Custom links.
My SWFobject and JW FLV are chmoded correctly.
Update:
Solved it by installing the Flowplayer, http://drupal.org/project/flowplayer. It automatically implements
the video into it's flash applet.

Netbuddy commentedSee this post http://drupal.org/node/1179616. If you create the empty file it does work.
