I have a very simple drupal site with my self as the only user where i post a daily blog with some photos. It has been hosted at Inmotion for a year now and today the locked my site as they said it was using to many resources on their servers.
I cant believe that my simple site, myyosemite.com, with no forum, no users, no store is clogging up their servers. the logs show normal usage. it has become very popular and does get a lot of hits but it is just a blog.
I now have to find another host and move my site.
So beware of Inmotion !!!!!!!!

For a simple, low-traffic site I've been using WebFaction (http://www.webfaction.com/) for a dozen sites or so for a couple of years without any problems, and their basic package is VERY cheap and you're not commited beyond signing up for a month.
I think they're excellent, and no, i don't work for them. I'm just a satisfied customer!
The site layout is a bit idiosyncratic, but it's an excellent service once you get used to the UI :-)

I’m very sorry your site needed to be suspended. We take the health of our servers very serious and from time to time those accounts that utilize excessive resources need to be temporarily suspended so that other clients on that machine are not affected. Looking into the situation, it appears that both of the System Admins that you spoke with explained the situation and directed you towards some potential fixes (enable caching and utilizing GD versus ImageMagick) to help control the excessive resource usage. As sites grow, dynamic sites in particular, issues that you may not have considered often come up. I hope you consider staying with us - we are happy to work with you on correcting the situation.
Thank You,

Well said, that man!
It ain't easy being a sysadmin...

Do you have some kind of issue with Drupal sites?
Because this isn't the only review I've found mentioning this problem with Drupal sites, I'm running a couple on one of your business class packages and at least once a month you suspend me due to high traffic. We're talking maybe 20 connections at once on a really exciting day. I've got caching enabled and use GD, but when I talk to you guys you always mention too many tables being accessed - well, if I've got 8 fields in a node that might access 10 tables at once but that's nothing a true "business class" service shouldn't be able to handle.
Slow response...
I am really concerned about the resources that Drupal may use, v.s., the ability of a hosting site to deliver. Personally, I've had issues with InMotion not related to Drupal (email services randomly not working, etc). That said, I clients on several different sites, Media Temple for one, Hostmonster for another. Interestingly, Hostmonster tends to give far better response time the Media Temple - most of the time. But there are times, usually at least once a day, that things grind to a to a pace so slow my cup of tea goes cold waiting for a refresh.
Enabling caching does seem to help. But developing views, for example is painfully slow. As web dev and web administrator, both issues are of real concern.
Upgrade or Leave
I know this topic is fairly old but reply it anyway. I have been with InMotion Hosting over 4 or 5 years and I have two accounts with the company. By comparing with all my previous hosts, InMotion is good. Their support always there to answer question. My site run smoothly most of the time. Except when the problem came, they will suspend you and send you email URGENT: Account Suspension.
I'm fine with the suspension but they never tell you what really cause it. It is always "The direct cause of this issue is not clear at this time;". So you don't know if you did something on your site cause it or your site has been attacked externally. Basically you were left in the dark, holding your breath and wish something like this never happen again. Because you have no idea how to prevent it.
I even sign up with CDN network like Cloudflare. It still doesn't help. It just so happen that last time I was suspended I was on my site too. There were over 4000 visitors on my site at that time and naturally they suspended my account. I mean what can I do about it?
Today once again I was suspended for unknown reason and this time I was told "In order for us to lift the account suspension you will have to upgrade to at least a VPS 1000 hosting plan on at least a monthly basis. If you do not wish to upgrade you will need to find alternative hosting for your sites."
I have no problem to upgrade. But the fact is my site rarely have over 20 peoples stay on at same time. It is not necessary to move to a VPS.
Another surprise, InMotion normally respond their customer email less than a hour but today almost 6 hours no reply from support. I guess it is their way of saying "Upgrade or Leave".
Shared web hosting would be
Shared web hosting would be just fine for a low traffic Drupal site. My experience with Bluehost 3 years ago is that the account was suspended when my site had around 150 unique visitors or 300 Page views per day. Inmotionhosting has relative loose constraints on CPU resource usage, but there is still a limitation.
I see you mentioned "There were over 4000 visitors on my site at that time", you might need to work with them to find out where those 4000 visitors from.

You can contact them using Live Chat support or phone call, this will help address the issues more directly.
