Description
I had Forum thread module installed to the core 'Forum' module. It worked very fine. Now i have installed Advanced Forums module and my thread view is lost. It is really important i show the comments as collapsed threads with just the title of the comments (exactly how forum thread would work). Can you please tell me the possibilities?

#1
It is unlikely. Advanced Forum is designed to display forums in a style that is very different and flat as far as I know.

Hi Folks,
I have figured our How to collapse the replies under the main topic post in a forum.
I have searched this site High and low for answers to this question and could not find anyone having posted How to do this.
Early this morn after hours of testing I figured out what needs to be done.
I am sharing this for anyone else who has had a problem with not wanting the replies to show up as all opened flat comment display and all opened up after the main topic post in a forum setup.
My system is Drupal 6.14 with advanced forum module.
Because the main Topic is a node and the replies are comments, we must deal with both of these issues.
Here is what I have installed with 6.14
Comment 6.14 Allows users to comment on and discuss published content.
Required by: Flat comments (disabled), Flat comments existing (disabled), Forum (enabled), Tracker (enabled), Advanced Forum (enabled), Forum Access (enabled), Forum Thread (enabled
Advanced Forum 6.x-1.1 Enables the look and feel of other popular forum software.
Depends on: Forum (enabled), Author Pane (enabled), Taxonomy (enabled), Comment (enabled)
Author Pane 6.x-1.1 Gathers information from user related contrib modules into one template.
Required by: Advanced Forum (enabled)
Forum Thread 6.x-1.1 Provides a simple threaded view of forums.
Depends on: Forum (enabled), Taxonomy (enabled), Comment (enabled)
One must go into Content management, then to Content types, then to Forum topic, then to Edit Forum topic, then to Comment settings, then
Default comment setting:
Disabled
Read only
Read/Write --This box checked--
Default display mode:
Flat list - collapsed
Flat list - expanded
Threaded list - collapsed ---This needs to be checked in box---
Threaded list - expanded
And this: Comment subject field:
Disabled
Enabled ---Check this box---
Hope this helps others make their forums Better.
We like this setup much better than Flat display with all replies opened, because of the type of forum we have, where folks want to view specific replies.
We request posters to make replies and place some Specific reply info in the subject of each reply, this helps others to just view the subject posts they are interested in.
This gives the main topic like Drupal forums, then collapses all the replies with them showing subject matter of reply.
When one clicks on reply this opens up this reply and the post it is replying to.
Much Better setup!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Much cleaner look etc.
Maybe this will help others.
I still have many things to learn, but happy to help where I find something that works for me.
