It would add greatly to the flexibility (and security) of arranging our files if we could specify a subdirectory of the drupal files folder where the "root" ImageCache folder should reside, and not be forced to place it at the "root" of the files folder.
Ref. this bug report for IMCE:
"Not possible to specify the drupal files folder?"
http://drupal.org/node/547140
"One limitation of ImageCache is that it insists on creating its folder directly in the "root" of the drupal files folder. "
*************
"sometimes I have certain folders that I do NOT want certain roles to have access too, that means that for those roles I would like to use IMCE from a subfolder and specify that one for those roles, BUT NOT loosing the ability to browse the ImageCache folders for those roles..."
*************
"Without that working, then I am forced to specify EITHER the imagecache folder, OR for example the Images folder, for the root of IMCE browsing."

Taxoman commented[Blush.] That was not a limitation of the IMCE module at all, just my lack of observation. I tried to save with blank folder field instead of entering a dot (.) character to specify the fiiles folder root, even if that is clearly stated in the tip section on the settings page. So that was a non-issue over at IMCE, and is now closed.
However, I think that it would add practical flexibility to be able to specify the location of the ImageCache folder anyway.

sadist commentedI second that. I arranged all users' files inside their own folder. But now each has another one more folder inside 'files/imagecache' directory. I think, that is messy.
I just wish ImageCache could work Token module.

fizk commentedPlease reopn if this is still an issue with ImageCache 6.x-2.0-rc1.
