How about using the right tools to do this job?

The best possible thing for this module to do is the following:

Present the user with a fixed-position widget (like the getsatisfaction module ) which when clicked will open a light/grey box with the "what do you think" form.

The best thing to do is glue some jquery niceness with lightbox and webform/ regular nodes.

Thus You will get rid of custom feedback entries handling, mail notifications, spam defence , lightbox implementations and outsource them to the developed modules for that.... Thus almost all issues will be wiped from here.

There should be alternatives to the fixed widget - a normal link and a link pointing to the lightbox....

What do you think? Should I start another project for that?

Not really. For 90% of all use-cases, the current/built-in functionality provides simply what you need.

However, I'm all for allowing further flexibility and extensibility. That's what #293512: Abstract back-end for integration with 3rd party issue trackers and #351698: Use entities for Feedback messages (depending on the former issue) are all about.
