Perhaps a download log could be added to the current filemanager/attachment module so that any files downloaded that were posted using the attachment module could be recorded?

I am using filemanager in my project and would very much like to have some consistent way to get number of actual file downloads.

I am currently working on a fork of the download_count modulet that works with the filemanager/attachment combination of modules. I have a thread already going at http://drupal.org/node/186695.
Anyone who can help me get this thing tested and working properly is more than welcome to join in.
