This module is great, because it upload, brose and insert.

The tons of features are good, but those should be optional, not by disable options but disabling modules.
and so making it lighter.

For example,
1. I want to use the image_resize module instead of the thumbnail creation.
2. I don't want to use the groups feature

I'll think about it, a lot of work. The groups stuff is mostly in a separate file already, if you don't use it doesn't get loaded. If you put it in a module of it's own it will be loaded all the time.
I don't know about image_resize_filter, I'll look at it and see if it can be integrated.
