mikey_p commentedNot to imply that your host is lying to you, but I've seen some very interesting things happen in certain hosting environments.
Can you verify that you site is running under PHP 5, by doing to admin/reports/status/php on your site and checking the PHP verion there?

Jadler2 commentedI have this same issue, the message...
This module requires PHP version 5.0.* and is incompatible with PHP version 4.4.9.
...appears in UberCart under the modules list.
I use 1and1 for my host and I've tried a few things I've found on the web. Nothing seems to work out! I'm tempted to call the tech support but everyone knows how much 1and1's support helps...
I'm using the new 6.14 install of Drupal.

bantell commentedThe hosting services will provide optional modes of running PHP. There is most likely a Service Mode for PHP 4.* and PHP 5.*, select the PHP 5.* Mode and Save.

Jadler2 commentedMy advice when looking back on this issue is just to switch hosts. 1and1 was a terrible hosting provider and I was only with them for the low price. I have since switched to fatcow.com and love the service. They use simple scripts and provide support for all current and backport versions of drupal.
