Virtual site module

I have a question of curiosity and anxiety, I find this module is exactly what I want , http://drupal.org/project/virtual_site. Making multi-site and multi-field facility infrastructure management ^ ^.

But this module was not updated since more than a year, hence my concern. Is this the project is abandoned? . And if not, is it still viable or not risky to put into production.
