These documentation pages are a companion to UPGRADE.txt. You are encouraged to read all the documentation pages describing the upgrade process to Drupal 7 as UPGRADE.txt only covers the steps taken after you have prepared your current Drupal site for upgrade.
- To get a copy of UPGRADE.txt, download the latest version of Drupal 7 from the Drupal project page.
- Extract the archive with a program like tar, zip or a similar utility that comes with your operating system.
- In the root folder of the downloaded Drupal 7 package you will find the UPGRADE.txt file.
This file contains a list of actions you will need to perform to upgrade a Drupal site. It is important to read and understand the contents of this file as you will refer to it regularly during the upgrade process.
