WOULD BE GREAT to have possibility to hide some tabs for some user roles.

Yes, huge thumbs up for this! I'd like to hide basically all tabs from end users but still leave the "hidden" ones visible to admins.

I like this idea, too, but we first have to make sure that (1) menu caching doesn't break it, and (2) we can come up with a system for deciding when to apply a menu.

For example, User X has roles 1 & 2. The site has a setting for role 1, but a different setting for role 2. Which role wins?

I'm definitely open to discussion!

User will see all tabs hidden for role 1 if he is also in role 2.

Would also be cool if not only role permission is available but also that only owner is allowed to see some tab especially for profile tabs

Yes, but if there are not the right permissons available?

E.g. Private Message module - you can choose to read "All" messages, if you do so everyone can see the tab. Not possible only to show the message tab only for the owner of those messages.

Or did I get you wrong? You are talking about admin/user/permissions

So to me Tab Tamers an "emergency" tool if I don't get what I want by the permissions provided by a module.

So now everything is clear how perms should work with that module.
Also for the OWNER not only the ROLES. :)

Hope it will be an one of issue in next dev version.

We can combine efforts there, there are lot of similar requests like this one.
