Narayanbabu,

I thought I was nuts or something. I removed my install of drupal from a hosted site and was reinstalling the same version.

If I put in the wrong information (wrong password/database) it gives me an error. If the information is correct, it returns to the same page.

Does anyone know if there is a drupal install log or debug I can enable? Something must have changed on my hosting site or I did something last time and don't remember doing it.

This is GOING to be drive me nuts since this worked like a champ 6 weeks ago.

Thanks,
Stephen

Same here, mardigrasstephen. It's just like it refreshes. I changed the permissions to the necessary files and folders but it makes no change. I even created a new database on the server to see if it was just a problem with the database and not Drupal itself. No change. I hope there is a simple solution for this.

EDIT: I fixed it! What you need is two files in the Sites/Default directory. default.settings.php AND settings.php. At first I just renamed default.settings.php instead of copying a new one. That was the problem. So I went into the original Drupal files that are on my harddrive and dragged and dropped another default.settings.php into my site using FTP and editing the permissions and now it works like a charm, and on the first try, too! Good luck with your installation along with everyone else.

Hi the problem is with the permissions for the folder we are using drupal folder should have all permissions.
I got it working today.

I get a blank screen after I submit the database information, so cannot continue with the steps to set up the site. I can tell the database has been set up, and that the settings.php has been updated with the database information. However, nothing happens beyond that step.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

I had this issue with godaddy myself. Problem is they use IIS, which I don't really understand what it means, but you can't manage the file permissions via FTP. I had to login to godaddy and modify the permissions via their file manager and now I'm up and moving. I'm told the issue is in Microsoft vs Linux servers. Maybe check that?

Same problem, I have both files mentioned above and all my permissions are correct. Does anyone have any advice on how to diagnose this problem. I'm surprised that the installation process is so fragile and opaque
