I'm using it with drupal 6.12 and I see in scheduled backups that sometimes it save few bytes instead of normal bakcuop that in my case it is about 20mb gzipped normally.

I'm having the same problem... anywhere from 0 to 4 bytes are saved in the backup, whether it is manual or scheduled.

Are you getting any errors in your apache logs? Is it timing out or running out of memory maybe?
