Spaces is fantastic but I find the limitation of only 1 menu - the features menu - to be some sort of, eh, limiting. I'm building a site with both site specific features and user specific features and it would be really cool to have the site specific features available when in user space, without having to mix the menu items. I don't understand why the features menu have to be tied to the primary menu setting. When having features items in another menu I loose a lot of options. Just a thought.

Bumping version, still an good question.

Yes, still a good question. Another one would be whether features could not only package menu items, but also the parent menus.

There has been a lot of movement here in the base few days. Recent changes in Feature and Spaces have decoupled a lot of the reliance on the "Features" menu.

If you use a spaces aware access check on any menu item you'll can make that item "spaces aware" regardless of what menu it lives in.

Additionally I've just changed how spaces lets you select the front page for a space so that you can; a) use a primary navigation that isn't the "Features" menu and b) select an arbitrary path as your front page.

As this ticket covers a pretty large conceptual space I'm going to set it to closed and I'd encourage you both to checkout the recent changes and file specific tickets for any particular improvements that we could make.
