I recently got my site live and running, and any email sent from the system (via contact forms or in response to users registering) comes from a ridiculous email address, consisting of my username for my host @ the host's address, instead of something from my site's url. I'm guessing this is something that has to be done with my server settings (I'm using Bluehost, by the way), but I'm not sure.

Can anyone just steer me in the right direction?

check administer -> site information

what email address is set there?

It's my contact@mydomain. Don't know why it's not being used.

Also, for the record, I do have the email address in question setup directly in cPanel.

odd.

and using no other modules that work with mail? ie: smtp.module of anything?

No other mail-related modules, no.

I'm out of ideas beyond setting up a freshly installed test site and if it happens there too, then it's a host issue that needs to be discussed with them. could have something to do with the way they have the server set up to ensure spammers aren't using php to send spam or some such.

I tried that. I set it up on another domain of mine I have with the same host, and everything works fine. Don't know what would be causing this.
