Is there any good practice or way to moderate this for content?

For all our web site content we must approve it before it goes live.

Is there a way to make a view and have an approval process?

If not is there an optimum view suggestion so that a moderator can take a look at many statuses at the same time and then batch delete them say using views bulk operations?

Right now there is no batch delete, although this may be available through Views Bulk Operations in the future. This module is not really designed to have moderated content on the expectation that status updates could be so prolific and for so many users that moderation would be impractical. However, if this is something you need, you should install the Flag module and add an "approved" flag to statuses. Then modify the views you're using so they only show statuses flagged as "approved."
