So what happened to the Drupal Theme Contest? Was all meant to be done for Feb we thought?

Anywho, if anyone want's to shed light please do.

We are in the final stages of setting up a new site and indeed a new Drupal theme competition. But we are not looking to launch it set unless it is actually something everyone wants.

There is no doubt that it is aimed towards the 4.7 version rather than the old versions of Drupal. We have some sponsers offering nice prizes and will get in touch with Dries etc to see if they want to judge the competition.

If anyone has feedback / comments / or even some news on the previous competition (which we did not run) then please feel free to shed some light :)

I'd like to know where the competition got to as well.

there was a company who had a theme competition that involved designing a theme that they intended to use themselves. I don't know anything about that.

Then there is the still-up-and-coming theme competition that will be funded with Google SoC funds from 2005. This will be announced and will officially begin after 4.7 is released.

I've also heard rumors about other big Drupal shops wanting to start their own theme competitions or join in the effort mentioned above. This is yet to be finalized.

When the theme competition comes, you'll definitely hear about it. It will be very well publicized and the prizes involved will not be trivial. It will likely last around 6 months.

Ahhh yeah, forgot about the google funded one.

in that case we may have to put DrupalArena.com on hold for the time being. Sigh.

Thank you for the information though. ;)

If you want to become a sponsor of the theme competition that I'll be running with the SoC funds, contact me. Otherwise, there isn't any apparent conflict with other/external theme competitions. In the end, Drupal benefits one way or another.

By the way, is there anything that you druplers are after that you currently can't find with regard to drupal and building drupal websites?

We are not talking, "I want a forum module" etc. But anything particular like design tips, images, themes, resources of any other nature?

Perhaps more consise guides or snippets with even a video tutorial etc?

Anything really, there is no such thing as a bad idea, unless your idea is to breed chickens with more legs so there are no fights over them at the dinner table, that is a good idea, but not really what we are after for Drupal Arena ;)
