Group By with an Equal number of rows per grouping

I am wondering if this module could be adapted to do the following: -

Group by a field, e.g. Taxonomy Term, and show the first x rows per term.

This has been asked before in Views 2, and was rejected as a "Won't fix". I am wondering if the framework of this module would make it possible?
