I discovered today when trying to link to the page that the developer's guide has the path of http://drupal.org/contributors-guide.
I actually find this rather offensive, as it implies that in order to contribute to Drupal you have to be a developer, which is anything but the case. Development is just one of a festive plethora of wonderful ways to help out Drupal. :)
Does anyone object to me re-pathing this to something else? It looks like some other sub-pages (Module developer guide) use "developing" as the initial page, though a lot of them are just at the top level (http://drupal.org/simpletest, http://drupal.org/setting-up-development-environment). I guess in general paths are kind of out of whack here. :P

jhodgdonOne vote for yes, changing the path, but are there links to it elsewhere using the path alias?

jhodgdonUgh. Google can search for pages linking to another page, and there are unfortunately quite a few linking there:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fdrupal.org%2Fco...
like 10 pages worth.
So if you can leave the old link active, or do some kind of a DB query to fix the other links...

arianek commentedopening a can of worms, as there is so much left to be desired of the handbook aliases... there are top level sections with no alias even...if only someone would give me perms to create aliases on my own... ;-)
i agree - especially now that "contribute" in irc is trying to be all encompassing, would be nice to stay consistent. i haven't the faintest idea how big of an undertaking this is....
worth the trouble?
