Moving to Drupal

Hi, every one:

I'm new in the Drupal world and i've a question:

If i've never used Drupal for my websites, can i start using it on my sites without re-do them from zero ?

Some people have toldme that it is not possible, any of you know if there is a way to do that ?, thanks.

It depends

For example there's a module to move a site from Wordpress to Drupal. [http://drupal.org/project/wordpress_import].

If your sites are html pages you may look at this http://drupal.org/project/import_html

Cheers.

Hi, i saw the link you posted, very interesting, but i guess that there's no way to import a more complex dynamic site into Drupal, am i right ?

Like for example

If you provide more details I'm pretty sure we can find a way to do it.

Like intertextual mentions,

Like intertextual mentions, importing dynamic sites is completely possible.

There isan entire category of projects listed (somehow migrate was removed from that category??). Also, there is a forum dedicated to migration.

If you have your data in MySQL you can use the aforementioned migrate module to import users, nodes, etc... in batches (or Postgresql, not sure on support in migrate for that). The last I took a look at it, migrate wasn't able to do some complicated imports regarding taxonomy, which is why I've written my own custom migration modules in the past. It's worth taking a look now thoug.h

Hi everyone: Thanks by all

Hi everyone:

Thanks by all the information, i did read about the migration module and i saw that there's still some issues, but instead of that, have they worked well for you ?

Well i've been asked to investigate how could be some specific intranet sites (already running) be managed by a CMS and using some Ad Server. Till now Drupal-OpenX looks like a pretty good combination to me. Sadly i've couldn't have too much info about those intranet pages, i hope i can get some info soon.
