Javascript conflict with chat widget in IE

I am experiencing a javascript conflict with a jabber-based chat widget I have as a block on pages with quicktabs. If you click on a tab in IE nothing happens until you move your mouse onto something other than that main web page (like the widget iframe which is on a different domain, or off the browser window altogether). What function or conflict would cause this sort of behavior?
I'm attaching the js for the chat widget in hopes that someone familiar with the quicktabs js could shed some light on where the conflict may lie.
