Need help developing e-commerce module
What is our project?
The project that we need help with concerns the creation of a new Drupal module. This module allows for the creation of files that can be downloaded, either free of charge, with the ability to donate, or specify a price, and have the ability to charge before the download. The module would empliment several key features:
Title (of the file or document)
Topic (subject of the file or doc)
The file itself
An abstract of the file or document
An image(s) to accompany the file or document
Price for the file or document
Poll or ratings method for the file or doc
Forum for the document (For readers of the document to hold discussion)
Comments about the document (Available to the public)
Author of the document
Roll of the author (Developer - Member)
We are relatively new users of Drupal and we have already come to appreciate Drupal's excellent design and flexibility. Unfortunately we do not have enough experience programming in PHP and MySQL to develop this module (Publication Module) ourselves in a reasonable amount of time. We do have some experience in programming in C, Perl, JavaScript, and HTML etc..., so we do have a basic understanding of the concepts that will be required. We will be able to provide more specific, psudocode, layouts, and input and output vars as a result of this experience.
The developer will needs to have some experience with (the more the better):
Drupal module developement
Be able to integrate module functionalites: e-commerce, polls, comments, forums and perhaps a few others...
Be Familiar with file uploading - downloading (these files are the products to be sold, or given away for free)
We, as poor college students, can offer the following for the services of the developer:
$500.00
Ability to freely distribute the module
Lifetime membership at our site (includes ability to post documents or files for sale, as well as other really nice features)
Potential future contracts
Respect from the open source community

E-commerce product
Hello and thanks for the prompt reply. The title is kind of misIeading, sorry. We are trying to develop a product module that uses ecommerce functionality as well as various other functionality from different modules. I guess you could say it is closest to the file product in the ecommerce module but it adds some additional utility to the default. Thanks again.

E-Commerce will do most of this for you. But what you basically want is a cross between the E-Commerce Standard file module and the contrib donate module.
This would not be a difficult thing.
