After the latest update 6.x-1.0, the description of the fieldgroup is printed two times.
Somewhere during prerender it gets the description when constructing the tabs, and later on when the form is displayed it's given again. At least, that's what I'm guessing at.

Please check #556004: Description is added to content and it is shown twice when using cck_fielgroup_tabs
