Implementing Data URI schemes functionality in this project will be great.

But I'm in doubt whether this should go into this project or another may started. Probably project name can be changed so that name will reflect its functionality - combining images and making less http requests - for example "css_image". Or another project called "data_uri" or "data_uri_scheme" that complement sprites module.
