Having the flexibility to optionally assign different "Voting API tag" to content types would be useful.

IMHO we are too late here without a patch, but I can say that vud_field module is real on 7.x-1.x ;-) (and naturally per field configuration).

I do not see the port of that to 6.x, so closing it.
