duplicate elements

Issue Summary

As I understand this module you click on an element and it replaces and effects the output with your changes. I'm trying to effect the points output on the vote up down module. the$node->links['vote_up_down_points']['title']

Instead of replacing the element it creates two versions, my new version and also the old version.

Am I using this module wrong? How do I make changes and not have duplicate elements?
