I'm starting a blog and really like how easy Drupal is to customize over word press.

However, instead of having a bunch of anonymous comments (I don't anticipate a lot of registration to comment fora while), I'd like to still gather a name and email address (to hopefully limit spamming)

What do you suggest for a method of gathering this information when a user comments in the blog?

if you already visited admin/user/permissions and enabled "access comments" & "post comments" for "anonymous user" (also note the permission to "post comments without approval")

then all you need is go to the blog content type at dmin/content/node-type/blog expand the "Comment settings" fieldset near the bottom and select the radio "Anonymous posters must leave their contact information"
