workflow transitions and automatic publication

hi folks,

my workflow is neither working nor flowing. i simply am not getting the option to initiate transitions at the edit page - where i understand such a choice should be - and all my new nodes are still automatically published.

we are using drupal 4.6.3 with the revised workflow module (http://drupal.org/node/31743). i have set a node type called Project to be subject to a test workflow and turned off its default publication. i laid out the workflow with three states and allowed "author" and "administrator" to invoke certain state transitions.

when i create a Project, no entry is created in the workflow_node table, and no transitions appear available when editing the node either as its author or as admin.

i would very much appreciate any suggestions.
