Drupal / PHP Expert Needed - Realty Website with custom modules - potential for much more work as well

Sansui - August 25, 2009 - 15:12

We are in need of a Drupal / PHP expert for various side projects and module development. Our current need involves a realty project.

1.) We will provide the foundation for the website. Installation, theming, some minor module modifications
2.) You will provide the advanced custom modules and modifications needed

General Overview of the site:

This is an existing site with small customer base already, but is ancient and oldschool/inflexible PHP design from the dark ages. Realtors sign up for a paid membership, create listings that provide a virtual tour of a property with numerous images, floorplans, description, etc. There are other value added tools such as flyer/pdf creation based on templates that realtors can generate from images they upload.

Features we need developed:

1.) Modification and further development of the Themekey module. Each user must be able to select a predesigned theme in their account settings. When ever an anonymous user searches the website and clicks on a realtors listing, the theme changes to the realtor's theme based on the theme selection in their account. We will provide all the themes, we need you to create the interface that allows the theme to switch based on content linked to a user account.

2.) We need several XML feeds generated for each listing. Trulia format (for trulia, zillow, and yahoo), Google Base, and Oodle

3.) The ability for anonymous users to enter their email and subscribe themselves to notification of new listings that fall within a range of criteria for price, number of bedrooms, zip code. This notification would run either with every cron or just run once a day with cron.

4.) A custom file dialog box for uploading images. If it can be used with FUpload for Imagefield, that would be ideal. This custom file dialog box would allow the user to 'queue' images in a visual display on the right, while selecting thumbnails from their computer on the left. Then, when all images are 'queued' for upload, they click upload and FUpload does its thing.

5.) An interface for building PDFs from dompdf or fpdf for 300dpi 8.5 x 11 brochures. We will provide the graphic designs, and need the programming/php side of the templates in fpdf or dompdf format to render the pdfs using user uploaded images / text captions.

We do expect that you will probably need more information for each of these areas to quote and perform the project, which we are willing to provide. Our budget for the programming side is probably 5,500 - there can be some leniency there if another 1k or 2k means we can get the whole thing accomplished with little compromise.

We are preferably looking for someone that uses English as their first language and is near our timezone (eastern, US), can provide updates on work every 2 or 3 days and is able to communicate by Instant Message / Email / Skype. This is also an opportunity to be our "go-to" guy for future drupal projects. We seem to pick up requests for a number of custom programmed modules, so regular future work is almost a guarantee if this project goes well.

Please don't hesitate to contact us with questions or comments (like if you think our budget won't reasonably cover the requests). Looking forward to hearing from some great drupal programmers!

Some updated details:

1.) Please feel free to offer quotes on any of the listed features needed, if you only feel comfortable handling one or two of them.

2.) Yes, XML feeds for the listings can be done through views and clever views tpls, which is what we were expecting.
