when I try to save admin settings (and other settings) I get this:

user error: Duplicate entry 'locale:en' for key 1
query: INSERT INTO cache (cid, data, created, expire, headers) VALUES ('locale:en', 'N;', 1143480900, 0, '') in /home/basetho1/public_html/e-life/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 66.

Can someone suggest what I can do (bearing in mind I'm totally new to Drupal and don't know much about mysql)

thanks!

Thanks for posting all your version information - though I'm not sure it's helpful in this case it's a good idea.

There's lots of discussion on this topic (google search)
Please take a look at some of those.

Is this a problem or just a "why is this error showing in my log" kind of question? I generally ignore these errors (gasp!).

thanks, I've looked around and found a patch but have absolutely no idea how to use it - even after reading the information on the page. I'm on a mac, so might be able to do it using terminal, but again, have found no info on doing this. Beginning to lose heart with drupal (short attention span!) - it looks so nice and easy, but ....

I don't really know if it's a problem, it just worries me.

From the error message, it seems that there is a reference to the locale module :English.
Did you create a new translation of your Drupal installation?
Do you mind downloading new code (it will work with your existing Drupal Database if you keep and reuser the settings.php file in your sites director)?

I know that you are new to Drupal and do not loose heart. Drupal is not very easy to figure out because it is so powerful and flexible. Many times at the beginning I almost switched to Mambo, but that would have been a dead-end, 'Stick with Drupal and you will never go hungry again!' - There are many people in here who can help you get upto speed.

Another question:
- Did you manually install Drupal or did you use some automated tool like Fantasctico?
- I know thet Mac is closer to Unix that windows, but also search all your code (Mac should have a file search tool), so any ^ characters... you may have corrupted some file while installing.
