I just upgraded CAPTCHA from RC2 to RC3 on a multi-site Drupal installation, but now the word choice captcha has disappeared. Now there is only the math question and the image captcha.
That's a strange modification between two release candidates. Or did I make a mistake somewhere?

The word choice challenge was removed in the CAPTCHA 6.x-2.x branch from the start because of the rather low quality and because its maintenance held back the development of the core CAPTCHA module.
You probably upgraded from 6.x-1.0-rc2 to 6.x-2.0-rc3, which may look like a release candidate step, but it is whole new branch.
However, the Text CAPTCHA submodule was moved and improved to the CAPTCHA pack module.
I added this info to the release notes of 6.x-2.0-rc3 .
