I'm quite proud of my little shop! I'm selling downloads of images directly to customers, and it wouldn't have been possible without Drupal or Ubercart, and it wouldn't have been possible without open source programmers and their generosity..

Without further ado, the web site is at http://www.photosfordesigns.com

It's not 100% finished as regards design and little improvements to be made, but it is fully tested, functional, and error-free (bar one error that I must get rid of :D)

Hope you like, I used Drupal, Ubercart, CCK, Flickrfield, and Views predominantly, with bits of custom coding and a few hacks (but done elegantly as only Drupal allows!) along the way..

Thanks for all your help along the way to everyone that posts questions in the forum, and to those that answer those questions tirelessly!

Is your photography 100% digital at this point? Or do you still find yourself using film from time to time?

I do play around with film still.. I have waaay to many vintage cameras, I just tried out a roll of medium format film on a 1950's camera, but to be honest, I'm so used to shooting colour digital, that the photos turned out bad, really bad :)

I like 35mm film but again, it's expensive getting the negative developed, although negative scanners are great so it reduced the cost to scan the negative yourself, but still loads of hassle and stress not knowing if anything even came out on the film.. digital is just too damn convenient!!

I messed around with instant film too (like polaroid but cheaper), and the results were nice but again, instant film is real expensive to buy, and the equipment is big and hard to use.. some links of film stuff on my flickr account below if you're interested..

I know what you mean-- but I sorta miss the surprise of developing that roll to see if anything came out. All too often I find myself deleting pix minutes after taking them because they're "no good". I also miss being able to play around with the developing process to get different effects (with b&W anyway)-- though the silveroxide filters are awesome.

And yeah the steam train ones are one of those once in a lifetime things, that was great, even though I was hoping it would be pictures of people but hey, can't complain with my discovery really!

Yeah, I love film it's just more romantic, but a pain too.. I do like the little screen with digital where you can review the shot straight away, although apparently you can get digital backs for film cameras if you have a few 1000 quid to spare!! And you know in the darkroom it can drive you mad having to re-print and re-print just to get it exactly right.. there are pro's and con's to both for sure, but film will always have that romance, nostalgia and character that digital won't.. nice to meet a fellow photographer/programmer type :)

Digital is also cleaner-- I don't miss having to figure how to dispose of waste chemicals, lol.

I actually think there's quite a population of photog / geeks -- for some reason it seems to go well together. My latest passion is repairing / retouching antique photos-- that's one place old fashioned methods can't even touch digital methods. I'm constantly surprising myself with the repairs to old/damaged photos you can make. Truly amazing. One of these days I need to take some time and create a drupal site for that!

oh well... we're totally off topic now, lol. Once again-- nice job. Rock on. ;-)

lol! Yeah I was going to get chemicals just to develop negative's at home, because then I can scan them so I only have to buy the chemicals, canister, and light-proof bag, and away I go, until my friend pointed out about the chemical disposal issue, shame about that really!!

We are off topic-ish but hey, have to break the rules sometimes :)

dont you have a local govt that takes hazardous chemicals? i thought just about all places had something like that.

Thank you! Yeah that image is a Paypal graphic, I did notice for some reason it was working in Firefox but not in IE (Typical).. I don't know if anyone else can see if it still looks broken now? Hopefully it's fixed, thanks for the heads up!
