Hi,

first of all thanks for this wonderful theme.
While playing around with it, I had the idea to add a new region next to the primary menu.
This could be used for the horizontal user login (for example).
I marked the area in the attached screenshot.

What do you think about it?

Best regards,

Andreas

Just a question:
Does anybody like this idea or do you find it not useful?

Thanks for your comments.

Hello-

Awesome theme, just what I was looking for.

BUT, I agree wholeheartedly for another region next to primary links. Great idea, Andreas!

I want to put the Search box in that region (this will leave more room for shopping cart and login links where search box is by default in Acquia Prosper), and am having a devil of a time figuring out how to do it. I modified page.tpl.php to write the search box after primary links - nope, puts the search box under primary links.

Tried changing css for primary links and search box by adding display: inline; nope.

Only way I could even come close was to take off width:100% on block css class but that screwed up all blocks.

Next thing I was going to try was to modify primary links call to include search box. Yuck, right?

I would be even happier if I could put the search box to the left of the primary links but I will take to the right gladly!

Thanks,

luckydad

Yes. Good place for links like "Blog" or "Sale".

Thanks for the request, I can definitely see the appeal of this!

We'll review the best way(s) to do this and come back to it after bug fixes and some existing roadmap features make it in to the theme. It's not trivial since this is a full width bar and would take a bit of reworking. It may be best left until we get the selectable Superfish menu styles committed and matching primary links can be added as a block (ie. with a configurable width) instead of using the theme variable.

Ok, if we talk about regions...
I need not new but old one) What about "Header middle" and "Header last" instead "Header"? I think that it very useful for e-commerce sites. You can use "Header last" for shoping card and "Header middle" for some site news or "twitterlike" updates. :)

Can you describe what you want to do that you can't do with the existing region? You can use the block settings to put blocks either side by side or one on top of another and change the widths.

Please, try to add some fluid width text block (for example 140 characters) between logo, site name, slogan on the left side and shopping card on the right side of Header region with fluid site layout enabled. It need some playing with style. May be i don't understand something...

@stephthegeek
Thanks for your decision to add this region to the theme. I think this will add a lot of flexibility. :-)

@aluminium
Maybe it's a good idea to open a new post with your problem ... it doesn't fit the original topic.

Hi,

thanks for the nice improvements the theme got in the past weeks.

For now I only have one wish:
Do you see a chance to implement the additional region next to the primary menu?
This would be great. :-)

Best regards,

Andreas

Sorry, it looks like this isn't happening until D7, when we can use region styles.
