Description
If the inventory were to be determined as suggested here, then it would be real helpful to have a page that projects inventory for each group/channel combo over a given period. Obviously it would have to look up when ads were set to expire or extrapolate an end date from the rate of impressions, if the ad is impressions limited. Also it would have to check those projections before it allowed someone to change those limits...
I'm thinking it would present in a simple table, showing the filled and unfilled inventory each day for any given, say, week. Or you could look up a group/channel combo and it could extrapolate the times when sold inventory changes over the next "x" period of time...

How about a place to see inventory in general? Leave all the "sorting" for later.
It would be incredibly useful to know how many ad positions are being shown throughout the site - by page, by node, by ad group, and soforth.

Assigning to myself.

Thank you Jeremy.
My perspective of this can only be explained by example.
Let's say a client pays for 30k impressions throughout the site, where each client normally gets 4 ad positions/sizes on a page. This means that each ad position needs to have an impression limit of 7.5k.
Now, let's say I have 5 other clients with the same package, and again only 4 ad positions per page.
I need to keep up with each clients' ads, and currently the only way I can do this is by giving the ads similar titles.
My idea of a way to simplify this is to set up a separate type of "group" to place all the client's ads in, which divides the impressions for you and gives a full report with inventory.
An even simpler way to do this with the current system would be to allow multiple ads to be selected for viewing statistics, so that you can look at a client's ads together. And as far as projecting inventory, the system could estimate the number of positions by multiplying the number of nodes by the ads selected.

Lots of ad serving platforms let you organize individual ads into "campaigns" and something like that might create the framework to do what you're talking about.
In our case, we need to be able to limit the number of ads at any given moment in each group/channel combination.
If campaigns were in place, I'd think that the inventory wouldn't touch the campaigns and actually only the ads themselves would be "in inventory." The campaign would help organize, aggregate data, essentially.
Make sense?

I've started using OpenX for this.

@g10tto, I assume you are using 2 Drupal modules for managing/showing OpenX ads?
Could you please tell if OpenX+Drupal have support for "display ads restricted by node's taxonomy terms"?
