I marked #563596: Add Bulgarian language to l.d.o as duplicate of this report.

Is there any previous Localization server setup for Bulgarian? (I don't see any on http://drupal.org/project/l10n_server but that does not mean there is none)? You seem to reference the general effort at http://drupal.org/project/bg

#3

Are you still interested, or lost interest?

I think bulgarian users of Drupal are interested in having bulgarian translations in to L.D.O.

To answer the question:

Yes, there is an official bulgarian translation, and you can find it on its site - http://drupalbg.org. But there is not set up a l10n server, you can find only the translation files for d6 and d5 and for some modules. All these files are listed on the home page of http://drupalbg.org.
I find a russian site http://drupaler.ru where the bulgarian is listed as a language for translation in their l10n server but I couldn't find any bulgarian translations there.
So what should we do now in order to get Bulgarian into L.D.O.?

#5

http://drupaler.ru/translate/languages/bg says it has 2 contributors, but due to a previous bug in l10n_server, it listed anonymous users too. This is echoed by the top contributors list which only lists imago@drupal.org. I've contacted him to provide feedback on this issue. It would be good to centralize the efforts on localize.drupal.org and get that data (as well as shut that group down).

#6

I am interested in contributing or perhaps taking up with the project myself. I can bring uptodate the aforementioned language files for both versions (6-x,7-x) and perhaps jump-start development through localize.drupal.org. Any ideas/comments?

Hi, I am sorry I did not reply earlier, but there are no email notifications for new posts about this issue, so I was not aware. There is no localization server for Bulgarian and we would like to have one setup on localize.drupal.org.

ck - Thank you for offering to help, I guess once LDO is ready it will be much easier for several people to collaborate on translation.

Panayote,

Just for the sake of internationality: okay. I will readily contribute.

Ok, so the only item we need to figure out is shutting down the drupaler.ru language team. I've sent imago@drupal.org a contact mail again.

#10

Doh, sent imago a contact mail again.

#11

I haven't seen him in our forum for several months as well. May be he lost interest in this.

#12

@imago thinks the translations in the drupaler.ru database are better:

Hi, Gabor!

I am sorry for the delay. You may proceed as you wish. Only bear in mind that the "official" Bulgarian translation awailable at drupal.org has too many errors - so it would be nice to take the one in your ML db as the basis. Unfortunately, I have very limited time for online projects.

Well, it is very subjective to say which translation is better. Some people might like one, some might prefer the other. I do not insist on maintaining the Bulgarian l.d.o. (and it is quite a work when each new drupal release comes out). If Imago would like to maintain Bulgarian l.d.o that is ok.

#14

In my humble opinion the translation here at drupal.org (although outdated) contains less errors, most of them syntax.

#15

You could export and merge the drupaler.ru translations with the CVS translations to start with, so we can make the l.d.o group the official one. Seeing there are already two teams (CVS and drupaler.ru) working on translation, it looks a bit odd to set up a third one.

#16

I think this should be done to have it centralized. There is no sense in having two separate translation teams.

@drupalbg Have you merged the translations or do you need help with it?

greetings
Ivo

#17

any progress on this? I would like to force this and put the Bulgarian translation on the localize.drupal.org system so that contributors can suggest strings.

#18

I don't know what's the current situation but months ago I tried the bulgarian l10n from drupalbg.org and what bothered me was the "commanding style" of some translations. More on this topic can be found in "Повелително наклонение в потребителския интерфейс" and KDE's bg l10n resources has other useful directions.

Ok, given that @imago is not available anymore, the drupaler.ru group is not active and @drupalbg et. al. are actively working on the translation, I've created the team at http://localize.drupal.org/languages/bg and made drupalbg the initial owner / admin.

Please expect that there might be bumps in the service. You are among the beta-tester of this live instance. Thanks for helping out and please report issues as you find them! Your team members can now join and help import existing translations and work on more translations.

Anybody can sign up for being a member of the team and they will be able to submit suggestions right away. The initial admin can change permissions of people signing up, widening their capabilities. See http://localize.drupal.org/node/616 for explanation on how. It is highly suggested to grant both moderation permissions to those who you also designate admins.

Welcome on board!
