Community site a la reddit or digg
I'm sure this is a popular site format, so I'm hoping there is a kind soul out there who can guide me in the right direction. No doubt the answer is in front of my face and I've just been staring at the monitor too long.
I'm trying to build a site like the ones in the title. I want contributed contented to be voted on and promoted (or hidden) based on its vote score. I also want contributers to either receive or lose points as others vote on their nodes and comments. It's also important that the node's title on the front page link directly to external content. I managed to accomplish the last item using the storylink node-type from Vote Up/Down.
I've tried using combinations of modules including Vote Up/Down, Voting Actions, Userpoints, and Karma, to name a few. I just can't seem to get all of it working right. Does anyone have any suggestions?

choose one that implements with Views well and just create some views that sort the content whichever way you want, by amount of votes + (or not) category, etc.
Preferably you want one that uses voting API so you can implement User Karma and write some rules pertinent to your website.

You might want to look at http://drupal.org/project/drigg . I've never used it but it does the sort of site you're talking about.
