I talk about the shortcuts icon(the little arrow in the right top) with Goba. He told me it was inspired by google toggle(see picture). But it works and looks like totally different. I suggest change it and Icon move together the shortcuts. See the picture.

ff1 commentedWhile testing the overlay patch at http://drupal.org/node/610234#comment-2224574 I came accross this bug. I created a fresh install with the latest D7 head and that patch applied.
The 2 images attached show the current toggle shortcuts button in both the expanded and collapsed state.
I think that the proposal above is the best way to go.
Even if that is not included, the arrows should be swapped.
[Edit: by swapped, I mean... clicking the down arrow should expand the shortcut bar and clicking the up arrow should collapse it.]

Bojhan commentedSorry, we are not changing this. Because we have not encountered any problems by users with this interaction, it might not be the same as Google but that does not make it bad.

truant commentedHi there, I'm a noob. Please be gentle.
I am going through the basics, and getting familiar with the behavior of D7.8. As some of you will appreciate, often the only time you notice something is not quite right is the first time you use it, after that you ignore it...which is why I am writing now.
Anyway, I believe the direction of the shortcut bar toggle arrow head is incorrect. I searched the forums and found this thread. My logic isn't based on Google specifically, but various other apps and GUIs I am familiar with, including the browsers I regularly use.
The arrow show be an indicator as to what behavior you expect when you click it correct? When the shortcut bar is shown, the arrow should point up, indicating that it will toggle up when clicked.....and when it's up, it should point down indicating that it will toggle down when click.
I notice this is not being changed per previous comment due to "not encountering problems by users". Most probably don't notice, and those that do probably can't be bother raising the issue, however, it is not intuitive behavior.
