I have an existing site with hundreds of existing articles that are tagged and categorized and URL alias'ed. It's only blogs and a few feed aggregators.

I want to move it to the openpublish (awesome) and continue the development of the site as can only be done well using everything that openpublish has already done.

Any ideas? Can I export all views and content types and import them into existing site then play around with view placement?

Any experience doing this?

We have not done this directly, however, have you tried the Deploy module? IIRC you could then setup a default OP site and use Deploy to move all of your content over. If you ever put something like this together let us know if it worked for you.
