Comments activity duplication

I love the idea of this module. It's critically important to Drupal to have something like this.

But anytime someone leaves a comment on my site. Two activity notifications are created for that action.

I've tried setting the time limit to 10 minutes, 1 minute, 5 seconds. I even hacked the code to allow for 1 second. None of these things work. It's still generating two notifications for every comment.

Can someone please help me figure out how to stop this? It makes the module unusable in any sort of public-facing site. Thank you.
