What is your relation to http://l10n.farzanbeh.com/ ?

#3

kaerast - September 18, 2009 - 17:12

hadi farnoud (the original requester) is the maintainer of http://drupal.org/project/fa. There is also http://drupal.org/project/pe which is linked to http://translate.irdrupal.com/

As far as I can tell (please do correct me if I am wrong) there is no good reason to have this duplication of localisation servers and translation packages, and so I recommend the creation of Farsi on l.d.o and getting everybody to work together in the same place. I have contacted alimosavi (the maintainer of the pe translation) suggesting this.

Gábor Hojtsy - September 18, 2009 - 17:14

Yes, absolutely, our goal is to find and merge duplications, so you can work in concert and the users get the most out of what you contribute.

Hi

For this section : http://localize.drupal.org/

I ready to support Persian translation in this part to stop of separately translation of Persian .

All Persian translation groups can work together and develop Drupal for all Persian people .

The module maintainers of fa and pe have both agreed that we should move the translation server to l.d.o. The http://l10n.farzanbeh.com/ translation server doesn't allow new users to create accounts and so I don't think we should consider it to be open. I have however contacted them using their website to ask for their input on this (because it would be a shame to go ahead without them).

Hello,

I'm the maintainer of the http://l10n.farzanbeh.com/
It was always frustrating for me to see that there is a very slow movement in the Persian/Farsi translation of the Drupal. I tried to help it by running the first translation server for Persian. I set it as a closed registration to avoid the spamming etc. But I was wrong, because all this time, only one user contacted me and asked for an account.

Anyway, I am willing to do anything to end this situation an unite all the effort for the Persian language.

As for Hadi Farnoud - the maintainer of Persian translation, this translation is for version 5.x and is more than two years old. IMHO it is useless and long dead. furthermore, I checked his website and saw a Wordpress software -which is against the Drupal's regulation- therefore I concluded that he has totally abandoned the Drupal. I'm glad to see him back in this post.

I have checked alimosavi's website sometimes and I see a live and -to some extents- up to date website. But if there is a movement to host the translations in drupal's own hosting, I totally back it.

And finally, I want to appreciate the Gábor Hojtsy hard work for Drupal and specially multilingual features. Thank you Gábor and others :-)

+1, i have translated more than half of Drupal's interface and many contributed modules, and i can publish whenever Persian becomes active in l.d.o

in i18n the code is "fa" and title is "Persian"

sinasalek - October 29, 2009 - 21:18

Gábor , do you need anything on our side for activating this language?

#10

sinasalek - November 3, 2009 - 11:15

Now that everyone is agree, lets export and share our translations, the one with more translated strings and better quality will be used as the based translation.

Here is my latest translation file (it includes over 60 contributed modules).

I have no idea how this happened, why we have to Farsi project?! why you guys didn't ask for access to current CVS instead of creating another project in the first place? there is no language with pe code according to ISO 639-1

I already asked for adding Farsi(Persian) Translation in http://localize.drupal.org/ but didn't get any response from you Gábor. Please link fa translation to http://localize.drupal.org/ this way contribution would be a lot easier.

I'll also merge latest D6 translation from pa to fa project. then I'll let you know.

Thanks

Thanks, I add non existing strings to current translation and we can discuss on already translated strings after we get localization server ready :)

Hadi,
Actually i didn't start from scratch, i download it from drupal.org but i'm not sure from which project or discussion.
I notified others as well, we should wait and see what they think, if you have time to maintain it i don't have any problem with project/fa to be the base translation , otherwise please grant CVS access to someone else to prevent anymore duplication.
Anyway let us know when you released the D6 version,

Regards

@alimosavi, Thanks ali, would you please put a note on your pe project and mention joining with fa project as well (in order to prevent in further discussion about duplications and also confusion for new users).

#21

farzan - November 3, 2009 - 20:54

I shut down the http://l10n.farzanbeh.com/ as well.

As I mentioned before, I completely support the unified translation effort in Drupal organization.
And I hope I see you guys there translating :-)

Hadi Farnoud - November 4, 2009 - 01:01

very nice people , D6 translation released, I didn't import everything as some strings are not clear. we have to discuss about those strings and find a meaningful translation.

I'll review all strings and release another BETA version. before moving to localization server

cheers

Looks like superb teamwork going on here!

Created team at http://localize.drupal.org/languages/fa

Please expect that there might be bumps in the service. You are among the beta-tester of this live instance. Thanks for helping out and please report issues as you find them! Your team members can now join and help import existing translations and work on more translations.

Also note that I've set this up so that it uses a controlled model (that group admins moderate translations). If you'd rather work in an open model (that everyone can directly submit translations), that is up to you and you can edit your group node to reconfigure anytime.

Consequently, I've also removed the listing of the existing server at http://drupal.org/project/l10n_server so please do import the translations yourself and keep the pre-existing servers shut down.

Welcome on board!

Thanks Gábor.

Everyone : I think it's quite difficult for only one person to review and confirm all translations , instead i think we should agree to set of rules first and then work together , i created a translation guide page for this reason , so please join and share your opinion http://localize.drupal.org/node/378

thank you Sina,
