We should improve the copy of the default search results to make it more usable and professional. Suggest we replace with this or similar:

Sorry, no matches were found

  • Try a different spelling.
  • Remove quotes around phrases to broaden your search, e.g. rocky mountains will produce more matches than "rocky mountains" (A search containing words in quotes will only find matches for pages containing that exact phrase).
  • Consider loosening your search with OR, e.g. email OR messaging will produce more matches than email messaging.

Some fixes have been done for D7 already.
We also have the following existing issues:
a) #211141: Add ability to customize display if search from block has no keywords entered
b) #146278: The "No results" text is not correct for UserSearch -- search help needs to be per-plugin, not global

I think those issues cover it, along with the changes that have already been made, so I'm going to close this issue.
