I'm not sure exactly how to provide "links to your user profiles on both sites" as I have never logged into groups before. My link, I think, to my account here is http://drupal.org/user/562504

oh just an update. If I try to login to anything on groups.drupal.org I get the following error:

The username malks has not been activated or is blocked.

I believe that if you are logged in to drupal.org and just visit http://groups.drupal.org/user it will create a new account for you. Did you try that?

Hi Greggles,

I did try that, which is how I was getting the error (I wasn't getting the chance to enter anything in when I was going to http://groups.drupal.org/user) but I've tried it again and it worked just fine.
