custom layout not displaying

So I had a custom layout it was working fine for about two weeks! then I installed pathauto, hotkey and path redirect and got the WSOD! after recovering from that by switching to one of the standard layouts my custom layout had disappeared! all the files are still there, remain intact I have cleared the cache. tried to create a new panel but it doesn't appear on that choose layout screen either. tried changing file permissions, renaming the directory. don't know what else to do. My custom layout files are right there in my theme folder but refuse to show up in the layout screen!
