Hi
I am considering switching to Drupal, and as part of my research I want to fully understand the process of installing and customizing drupal etc. This post http://drupal.org/node/84221 referenced the IBM articles found here http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/ibm/osource/implement.html?S_TACT=105A... as a great guide to installing and setting up Drupal. I have worked my way through the articles and have found them very useful. Problem is they were written in 2006 and 2007, and everything they reference now has upgraded versions. They use Drupal 4.7 and so on.
I'm wondering if there is another version of the IBM articles which uses current releases of all the software? I realise I could trawl through the forums and google to find the pieces of information I need, but just wondering if someone has recently put it in one place?
Thanks
Mary

Documentation is your friend
Try the Getting started guide in the Documentation. The documentation tab is at the top of every page. You'll find lots of resources from there.
Books
Those IBM articles were good, but with some pretty advanced sections (for programmers). It is not strictly necessary to be a programmer to use Drupal, unless you have very special needs.
For current info, there are Drupal books of all levels: basic, intermediate and advanced. They are usually clearer and better organized for a general understanding of Drupal than the current online documentation, which of course can also help for specific topics.
Thanks for the info
Thanks to you both for those links. I think i have found enough info to continue & am now in the process of installing Drupal on a local server for testing. Im quite excited about Durpal and cant wait to see if it is really as good as i think it might be!
For other people starting out with testing using a local server, the videos in the documentation were quite helpful, as were some tutorials which i found using google. More specifically, i had huge issues with XAMPP, for ease of use, go straight to WAMP
